The John Guest 3/8″ to 3/16″ Stem Reducer is a push-fit adaptor designed to reduce a compatible 3/8″ push-fit connection to 3/16″ OD pipe. It is commonly used in draught beer systems where smaller-bore 3/16″ product pipe is required.
The 3/8″ stem inserts directly into an existing 3/8″ push-fit socket, providing a 3/16″ push-fit connection on the opposite side.
This fitting provides a simple way of changing from 3/8″ to 3/16″ beer line without replacing the existing 3/8″ push-fit fitting.
In draught beer installations, 3/16″ pipe is commonly used to introduce additional line resistance and help control the flow rate at the tap. The length of 3/16″ pipe required will depend on the pressure, temperature, product and overall dispense system.
Common applications include:
The 3/8″ end is a stem, not a socket for 3/8″ pipe. It is designed to push into an existing compatible 3/8″ push-fit connection.
Using 3/16″ beer pipe increases resistance within a dispense line, but the correct pipe length will vary between installations.
