FOB Detector for Kegs | Cellar Buoy Beer Line Shut-Off

The FOB Detector for Kegs automatically shuts off the beer line when a keg empties, helping to keep the line full and reduce beer waste during keg changes. The Drin-KIT Cellar Buoy FOB Detector prevents gas and excessive foam from travelling through the beer line, making keg changes quicker and reducing the amount of product pulled through before normal dispense resumes.

Designed for professional draught beer and cider systems, the Cellar Buoy features 3/8" push-fit product connections, a push-button bleed valve and a simple float release mechanism.

How Does a FOB Detector Work?

FOB stands for Foam on Beer. The detector is installed in the product line between the keg and the dispense point.

During normal operation, beer flows through the chamber and the internal float remains raised. When the keg empties, the float drops and automatically shuts off the product flow.

This prevents gas from travelling further through the beer line and helps keep the downstream line full of product.

When a new keg is connected:

  1. Connect the new keg as normal.
  2. Use the push-button bleed valve to bleed the FOB chamber until it fills with product.
  3. Use the float release to reset the float.
  4. The beer can then flow through the line again.

Reduce Beer Waste During Keg Changes

Without a FOB detector, an empty keg can allow gas to enter the product line. This can result in staff having to pull beer and foam through the system after connecting the replacement keg.

The Cellar Buoy FOB Detector shuts the line off as the keg empties, helping to keep the downstream beer line primed.

This can help:

  • Reduce beer wasted during keg changes
  • Prevent gas travelling through the beer line
  • Reduce excessive foam following a keg change
  • Keep long beer lines full of product
  • Make keg changes quicker for bar and cellar staff

Push-Button Bleed & Float Release

The Cellar Buoy is designed to make resetting the FOB straightforward after a keg change.

A push-button bleed valve allows gas to be released while the chamber refills with product. The bleed outlet features a 3/16" push-fit connection, allowing suitable pipework to be fitted where required.

Once the chamber is full, the float can be released and normal product flow resumed.

3/8" Push-Fit Beer Line Connections

The FOB features 3/8" push-fit inlet and outlet connections for straightforward installation into compatible draught beer and cider systems.

It is supplied with a wall mounting bracket, allowing the detector to be securely installed within a cellar or dispense area.

For best operation, the FOB is normally installed on the pressurised product line close to the keg.

Suitable for Flojet Beer Pump Systems

The Cellar Buoy FOB Detector can also be incorporated into compatible draught dispense systems using Flojet beer pumps.

This makes it suitable for a wide range of direct-draw and remote draught beer installations.
